Barcelona, 22 February 2016 – The application Sharing Academy has been chosen by the Mobile Premier Awards jury as winner of the Best App Award 2016. In addition to this award, last night also saw two other prestigious awards giving, these are the Audience Award, as voted by the audience via Twitter, and was giving to Schooltivity and The Big Impact Award, which recognizes the application with most potential to aid people’s day-to-day life, and was awarded to Germany’s Mimi Hearing.
An application helping change the face of learning has won the Best App Award at the Mobile Premier Awards (MPAs) 2016. This award recognised the app as the best overall App of the Year at the ceremony which is held each year in Barcelona on the first day of Mobile World Congress. The MPAs are considered the biggest app awards within the mobile sector and internationally has been supporting the global developer community for a decade. The jury in this X Edition decided to award the Best App Award from amongst 16 global finalists, the winning application hailing from Barcelona itself. Sharing Academy is an app that helps students offer and organise peer-on-peer tutoring with each other and was developed in Barcelona as a web based platform.
The second award of the evening, the Audience Award, has been giving to Valencia’s Schooltivity, after a trending worthy storm of public voting via Twitter. Schooltivity is an application available on Android which helps parents, teachers and children interact better at nursery through streamlined communication and sharing thus helping the child get the most attention needed. Finally, the third winner of the night was Berlin’s Mimi Hearing , which has earned the Big Impact Award from the Appcircus team, organizers of the Mobile Premier Awards. This award is to recognize the impact the application can have on the daily lives of people, in this case something as crucial as hearing and audio improvement.
A night at the movies…
To celebrate their tenth anniversary the Mobile Premier Awards brought together leading representatives from the mobile industry for the opening day of the Mobile World Congress, creating a top level international jury. In all, over 1000 attendees enjoyed last nights apps and entertainment in a night filled with thrilling competition, industry networking and Hollywood themed glamour.
The opening keynote was delivered by Cristina Segal, Director EMEA at Intel Corporation, with talks also given by Stephanie Peterson, Head of Marketing and Strategic Communications at Runtastic and Martin Bryant, Editor of The Next Web. Together, they offered a complete vision on how to develop an app, tips to make it grow, how to improve engagement with users and what promotional opportunities and marketing tools can be used.

Since 2007, the Mobile Premier Awards have proven the biggest competition in the world of mobile applications as well as the event showcasing the most creative apps during the Mobile World Congress .
